It is also accredited by the Gostandart of Russia as a national centre for testing measuring devices and as such listed in the State Register of measurement institutions (State Register of measurement institutions (record № 30007-05)). SNIIM is also accredited as an institution technically competent to verify measuring equipment (record № 073). The main task of SNIIM is: to provide society with products of research, development and services in the fields of metrology, standardisation and certification; to provide adequate environment for the staff to carry out productive research and development and provide services, and, through this, meet their material needs. The main aim long-term quality management policy of SNIIM is to ensure high quality of its products and services to meet demands of consumers in particular and society in general by development, implementation and ongoing improvement of quality system based on international standards and aimed at meeting consumers' demands and minimising costs by preventing losses. SNIIM is functioning as: the national primary reference standards centre providing adequate metrological basis for measuring parameters of: electric circuits in HF and SHF ranges, electromagnetic characteristics of materials in HF and SHF ranges, big masses, heat flow, weak electromagnetic fields, small lengths and angles, as well as the national secondary reference standards centre maintaining the replicas of national reference standards to ensure uniform measurement practices for major physical quantities in research, industrial and military environments in the east of the country. At present the Institute is maintaining 13 primary national standards and high-precision devices, as well as 39 secondary national standards, all located on the area of 17800 m2 in buildings specially designed for precision measurements. The quality management system employed by SNIIM meets the requirements of national standard GOST R ISO 9001-2001 which is confirmed by respective certificate РОСС RU.ИС20.К00185. So engineering and metrological services provided by SNIIM are indeed of high quality. SNIIM provides services in development, research, manufacturing, tuning, instalment and servicing of reference standards, measuring equipment and measuring- and computing systems in geometry, mechanics, physical chemistry, temperature and thermal physics, time and frequency, electricity, radioelectronics, optical physics. SNIIM also provides services in development measuring techniques, verification, testing and evaluation of measuring equipment for pattern approval.
